9 Responses to Easy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

  1. Just made this today. So delicious and incredibly easy. I made it exactly as you described. It’s such a pretty soup too! Thank you!

    • Hi Margarita, it’s not really something you could substitute since all the seasoning and flavor comes from the rice mix. There may be another similar brand of boxed rice out there that you could use, but this particular recipe won’t work with just plain wild rice – the box mix is the shortcut to the more involved regular chicken and wild rice recipes out there. Sorry!

      • I have used chicken rice a roni when I don’t have the wild rice mix on hand. It takes longer to cook so I don’t remove it from the heat, but continue to let it cook until the rice is done. When I do this, I don’t add the chicken until the rice is almost done so that it doesn’t disintegrate. The original recipe is my favorite, but this does fine in a pinch.

  2. What kind of kitchen champion are you where this process takes less than an hour?! I just did it pretty diligently with some minor distractions from my spouse and it took me almost two hours.

    • If you start with cooked rotisserie chicken as the recipe states, this soup takes 30-45 minutes. I’m not sure what takes you 2 hours.
