  7. The October pattern holds here too, though for a slightly different reason than having more time: starting early is really about leaving room for the reprints. Handmade tags and printable wrap almost never look right on the first pass — you print, hold them against the actual paper, and change your mind — and by mid-December there’s no room for a second pass. The one habit that cut my printing down was collecting the whole season’s tags, labels and gift lists into a single file before going anywhere near the printer — https://ihatepdf.org/merge_pdf — it runs in the browser and the files never leave the laptop. Ten sheets in one print job instead of ten separate ones.

  8. The October-start point is the part people skip. I tried it last year after reading something similar and the difference wasn’t the shopping, it was the small finishing jobs — tags, cards, the little note that goes inside. Those are what pile up on Christmas Eve. One thing that helped me: I stopped hand-lettering thirty gift tags and started typing the names and printing them in a handwriting style, then just signing them for real. Takes about ten minutes for the whole batch. The converter I use outputs a PDF so I can print a sheet at a time. Still feels handmade, minus the cramp.

stay-at-home mom to three beautiful children, wife to an incredible husband, and daughter of a loving God. I freely admit that I am not always the most creative or original person when it comes to crafting, decorating, organizing, cooking, etc...but I love being inspired by great ideas and putting my own spin on them! Look around, stay a while, and I hope through my *unoriginality* I can provide some inspiration to you, too!
