14 Responses to House Hunting Tips – Staging to SELL!

  1. These are EXCELLENT tips! I think some of these tips would also work well for occasional day to day life to keep your place in tip top shape everyday. I am going to address some of these today so i can enjoy my space a little more. Thanks!

  2. We are going to be putting our house on the market in the next month or so and are going through this process right now. Ugh – it seems like everything takes twice as much time or money as you expect! I had to regrout the shower, repaint almost everything and repair a window…… the list goes on and on. But, it’s all coming together nicely and I’m sure our home will sell quickly! Thanks for all of your staging tips! One more – place one of those large storage containers in an inconspicious space – mine will be just outside the door going into the garage. When the house is going to be shown with only a moment’s notice, throw all the dirty dishes, laundry, toys, magazines in the container! It’s much faster and the potential buyers will think the container is part of your packing up to move!

  3. Great tips! Just starting the process of figuring out how to sell our house quickly– husband lost his job. We hope we can stage with as little investment as possible!!

  4. I simply couldn’t go away your website prior
to suggesting that I extremely loved the usual info a person supply in your visitors?
Is going to be again frequently to inspect new posts

  5. I love this! We put our house on thr market a month ago and it’s been slow going. We have a beautiful house on 30 acres in georgia. I love it here but my husbands job is moving us to Arizona. I’m super excited but wish the house would sell. This list shows me that there are a few more things I could do to stage it better. We have a showing Saturday so I’m going to get to work moving more things out!

  6. I need this soooo much! We’re off to our new home and I’ve just finished comparing with other properties. With that curb appeal, ours need some makeover!

  7. Hi
I hope you will/can help me.
I just found your home tips -staging your home before selling.
We are selling our home, not yet put on the market, it badly needs to be cleaned, staged, etc.
I do not know how or where to begin.
I still work full time, my husband is retired.
    the pressure is awful.
Will you please tell me “where to begin?”

    Thank you

    • Hi Margaret – it can be so overwhelming, can’t it? I’d recommend following my steps above, starting with the first one – declutter. Go through your house and make piles: keep, store, donate, trash. Anything that you don’t need on a daily basis can go into storage. Be sure when you’re boxing up things to store that you label them and package them well – that will be one less thing to worry about when you’re packing to move! De-cluttering is really the biggest and most overwhelming process. Then you can worry about the rest of the steps I talk about in the post. Good luck!!

  8. Hii..!!!
A few weeks earlier me and my husband sold our parental house and I don’t even want to remember those stressful days. It was a real headache selling a house.
We can never get an idea if what a customer really wants but if we think from a point of view of a buyer we can definitely make a great deal.
And this post can be a real help for those who are selling house for the very first time.
    Cheers..!!

  9. To me the staging part is fun and a nice way to help the moving process get started. The moving process, however, is such a stressful experience! I bought my condo when the housing market was booming and got to pick out all the stuff because it was just getting built…. that was fun. And we bought our house when the market was down so it was a good deal but still… the stress is not fun!

  10. I am prepping to sell in a couple of months. I am just looking at this as the most amazing opportunity to really clear out the clutter and simplify my lifestyle. It is going to look so different on the other side and I will also be able to bless many with the things I no longer need. Minimalism here I come!!!

I freely admit that I am not always the most creative or original person when it comes to crafting, decorating, organizing, cooking, etc...but I love being inspired by great ideas and putting my own spin on them! Look around, stay a while, and I hope through my *unoriginality* I can provide some inspiration to you, too!
