59 Responses to August Silhouette Challenge – Hymn Art

    • Thanks Stephanie! I am hoping to do one or two more like it to hang together in my music room…so many good hymns to choose from!

    • Thanks Laura! I was hoping to be able to find some old hymnals and actually use the pages from it, but I haven’t been able to find one yet. I will be keeping my eye out for one, though..lots of crafting possibilities with old sheet music :-)

    • Thanks, Christine! It was really pretty simple…I’m already thinking of other projects I can do with this technique! So many possibilities!

    • Thanks Kelly! It gives it a neat look up close…hard to tell the difference from the photos…but I really like how it turned out! Glad you like it!

    • Thanks Emily! It came up really easily except in one or two spots where the coat of mod podge was a little thin. I think one more coat of mod podge on top before I added the vinyl lettering would have done the trick!

  1. Reverse stenciling IS MY FAVORITE! I did some subway art with reverse stenciling in the early spring (with a dance quote for my friend) and I already have an idea brewing in my head for a HUGE piece of canvas art I want to add to our living room using reverse stenciling techniques. I don’t think I’ve ever seen book pages or hymn pages used before, though! Super creative. And I love how you shared your entire process with us, including the things you would do differently. I appreciate that so much. Thanks for sharing another stellar project with us! Can’t wait to see what you craft up next.

    Warmly,

    • I’ve got another idea brewing too…possibly something for football season and our new basement/media room :-) Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

    • Thanks, Tina! I am thinking about making a few more of these to put a a small gallery wall in my music room…Amazing Grace is one of my favorites, too, maybe I’ll do that one next!

  2. This is just so neat! I have never seen this technique before! I work with pressed flowers occasionally and they would look SO neat added to this project! Silhouette Envy!!

  3. I love this and I’m super flattered that you liked my post! The color variation is such an awesome idea. I may have to try that one!! I’ve been thinking about doing another for His Eye is on the Sparrow. I did do a layer of mod podge on top of the paper and I didn’t have any problems with tearing. Looking forward to seeing your next ones!

  4. Wow, this is absolutely gorgeous! I love it, and love the technique you used…reverse stencilling. I just bought the Cameo and am so excited to get it set up & start creating. I have to pin this. Thanks for the inspiration!

stay-at-home mom to three beautiful children, wife to an incredible husband, and daughter of a loving God. I freely admit that I am not always the most creative or original person when it comes to crafting, decorating, organizing, cooking, etc...but I love being inspired by great ideas and putting my own spin on them! Look around, stay a while, and I hope through my *unoriginality* I can provide some inspiration to you, too!
