Handmade Christmas ornaments are the best kind, don’t you think? I love how every handmade ornament tells a story. Pulling them out of the box to put on the tree each year causes you to pull that memory out along with it. Some ornaments represent a very important memory – like a wedding, birth of a child, graduation, or another special event. Others bring to mind the person who made the ornament – like a dried macaroni ornament from your youngest grandchild, or an ornament you made with a dear friend. And for some ornaments, it’s the memory of the year the ornament was made and the chapter of life that took place in that time. And, my goodness, any ornament dated “2020” is certainly going to have quite a slew of memories to go along with it! Are you planning on making any special ornaments to commemorate this crazy year?
I think it’s safe to say that most people’s holiday calendars are going to be much emptier than usual this year. Maybe you could set aside a December afternoon to craft up some handmade Christmas ornaments! Wouldn’t it be fun to make a few dozen, wrap them up in gift bags with notes of encouragement and thanks, and then anonymously drop them on doorsteps of friends and neighbors? Kind of like ding-dong-dash, handmade ornament style ;-) Whatever we do, let’s try to finish this year out with some extra good memories to recall when we pull out our 2020 ornaments!

What size wood slice would you recommend? And you painted it black right?
You can use any size you want! Yes, you could paint it black first (or any color!), and then apply vinyl over that, or just adhere the vinyl straight to the wood. If you’re doing that, I’d recommend sealing the wood with a thin layer of something like Minwax Polycrylic before applying the vinyl so it sticks better.
Thank you so much for your reply!! What size is your ornament? I seem to always get sizes wrong:)
This is a stock photo with the graphic on top of it, but I’ve made similar ornaments that are about 3.5-4″ wide :-)
Thank you!
I love your design, is it available in a stencil?
Thanks! It’s an SVG file, which can be used on a craft cutting machine to make a stencil out of vinyl. I don’t have any physical stencils for sale, if that’s what you’re asking.
Can you tell me how i get the 17 SVG files please?
There are 16 other bloggers that also shared free SVGs on their websites, so you’ll need to follow the links below the SVG collage photo to find your favorites :-)
What fonts do you use, I love both of these! I’m interested in purchasing them myself
This is a hand lettered design, no fonts :-)
What size do you think a wood slice should be? And you gave it a black paint job, right?
How do I download your MerryCHRISTmas file? Never done it before
